Senior Data Analyst - Layla AI

About the position

Expedia Group is a global travel company that connects travelers, partners, and advertisers through its consumer brands, B2B network, and travel advertising business. The Product Team focuses on creating high-quality end-to-end experiences for travelers and partners, with a customer-first mindset. Layla, an AI-native travel-planning and booking company and now part of Expedia Group's Product organization, uses a conversational travel assistant to help travelers create bookable itineraries. The Layla team is small, senior, and operates with startup pace, allowing for rapid iteration and data-driven decision-making. As a Senior Data Analyst on the Layla team, you will be instrumental in defining key metrics, conducting product analytics and experiments, and translating traveler behavior into actionable insights to shape future product development.

Responsibilities

  • Define and maintain trusted metrics and definitions across Layla and Bellboy, giving the team a shared, reliable view of how the product is performing.
  • Run product analytics — funnels, cohorts, retention, and traveler behavior — and turn the findings into clear insights that inform prioritization.
  • Design and analyze experiments (A/B tests), delivering honest, timely readouts the product team can act on.
  • Build and maintain dashboards and self-serve reporting so most questions can be answered quickly and consistently.
  • Partner closely with Product, Marketing, and engineering to frame questions, size opportunities, and measure impact.
  • Communicate findings with clear storytelling — turning numbers into a decision or recommendation.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in a quantitative or related field; or equivalent related professional experience.
  • Proven senior-level experience as a data or product analyst.
  • Advanced SQL and strong data-analysis skills, including the ability to define and defend metrics.
  • Experience with product analytics and experimentation (A/B testing) at a consumer product.
  • Demonstrated ability to turn analysis into clear, actionable insights and recommendations for non-technical partners.
  • Familiarity with AI-driven tools or workflows and applying data/AI concepts to real-world products responsibly.

Nice-to-haves

  • Proficiency with Python (or R) for analysis.
  • Experience with a modern analytics stack (for example, dbt, a cloud warehouse such as BigQuery or Snowflake, and BI tools such as Looker or Metabase).
  • Experience with marketing/acquisition analytics and attribution modeling, including an understanding of its limitations.
  • Experience analyzing traveler, marketplace, or e-commerce behavior.
  • Experience using AI-assisted tools (for example, Claude or similar) or integrating AI/ML insights to improve productivity and quality.
  • Experience helping build an analytics function or standards from scratch.

Benefits

  • medical/dental/vision
  • paid time off
  • Employee Assistance Program
  • wellness & travel reimbursement

9. HOW DO YOU PREPARE FOR A MEETING AND PREPARE A MEETING? WHAT DO YOU SEE HAPPENING DURING THE MEETING?

Just as communication is essential when working remotely, so is organization. Because you won't have those opportunities in the elevator or a casual conversation in the lunchroom, you should take advantage of the little time you have in a video or phone conference...

10. HOW DO YOU USE TECHNOLOGY ON A DAILY BASIS, IN YOUR WORK AND FOR YOUR PLEASURE?
