Senior Full Stack Engineer at UPS - United Parcel Service: 100% Remote (US)

Title: Senior Full Stack Engineer

Location: REMOTE

Job Description:

Roadie, a UPS company, is a leading logistics and delivery platform that helps businesses tackle the complexities of modern retail with unmatched delivery coverage, flexibility and visibility. Reaching 97% of U.S. households across more than 30,000 zip codes — from urban hubs to rural communities — Roadie provides seamless, scalable solutions that meet a variety of delivery needs.

With a network of more than 310,000 independent drivers nationwide, Roadie offers flexible delivery solutions that make complex logistics challenges easy, including solutions for local same-day delivery, delivery of big and bulky items, ship-from-store and DC-to-door.

We are looking for a Senior Full Stack Software Engineer that will help shape the future of RoadieXD™, Roadie's cross-dock solution, while contributing to geospatial services and other foundational platform capabilities. You'll partner across Engineering, Product, and Operations to solve complex logistics challenges, influence technical direction, and build scalable systems that power millions of deliveries. If you enjoy tackling difficult engineering problems, owning features end to end, and seeing your work make a measurable impact, you'll thrive in this role.

What You'll Do

  • Design, build, and test the APIs and services that power RoadieXD
  • Develop internal and customer-facing tools, primarily in React, that enable our cross-dock operations to scale efficiently
  • Partner with Engineering, Product, and Operations to solve complex logistics challenges and deliver high-impact features
  • Influence architecture and technical design decisions that improve the scalability, reliability, and performance of the Roadie platform
  • Write clean, maintainable code backed by automated testing, thoughtful code reviews, and modern engineering best practices
  • Continuously improve existing systems by identifying opportunities to enhance performance, developer experience, and long-term maintainability

Technologies

  • Languages: Primarily, Go and/or Ruby on Rails for backend. Experience in other backend languages considered. For frontend, React.
  • Data: Postgres, Redis, Kafka
  • Infra & Devops: AWS, GitHub, Docker, Kubernetes, CircleCI

What You Bring

  • 6+ years of professional software engineering experience building and shipping production applications
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics, or equivalent practical experience
  • Experience building scalable, distributed systems and APIs in production environments
  • Strong proficiency in at least one backend language (Go, Ruby on Rails, Java, C#, Python, etc.) and experience working with modern frontend frameworks such as React
  • Experience designing, building, and maintaining reliable, well-tested software
  • Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to navigate complex technical challenges
  • Ability to make thoughtful technical decisions and balance short-term needs with long-term maintainability
  • Excellent collaboration and communication skills, with experience partnering across Engineering, Product, and other cross-functional teams
  • Curiosity, ownership, and a demonstrated ability to learn new technologies quickly

Why Roadie?

  • Competitive compensation packages
  • 100% covered health insurance premiums for yourself
  • 401k with company match
  • Tuition and student loan repayment assistance (that’s right - Roadie will contribute directly to your existing student loans!)
  • Flexible work schedule with unlimited PTO
  • Monthly 3-day weekends
  • Monthly WFH stipend
  • Paid sabbatical leave - tenured team members are given time to rest, relax, and explore
  • The technology you need to get the job done

2. HOW DO YOU USE THE DIFFERENT COMMUNICATION TOOLS IN DIFFERENT SITUATIONS?

When you're working on a remote team, there's no way to chat in the hallway between meetings or catch up on the latest project during an office carpool. Therefore, virtual communication will be absolutely essential to get your work done...

With this question, companies are looking to see what equipment they may need to provide you with and to verify how aware you are of what remote working could mean for you physically and logistically...

5. HOW DO YOU PROCESS INFORMATION?

Several years ago, I was working in a team to plan a big event. My supervisor made us all work as a team before the big day. One of our activities has been to find out how each of us processes information...

6. HOW DO YOU MANAGE THE CALENDAR AND THE PROGRAM? WHICH APPLICATIONS / SYSTEM DO YOU USE?

Or you may receive even more specific questions, such as: What's on your calendar? Do you plan blocks of time to do certain types of work? Do you have an open calendar that everyone can see?...

7. HOW DO YOU ORGANIZE FILES, LINKS, AND TABS ON YOUR COMPUTER?

Just like your schedule, how you track files and other information is very important. After all, everything is digital!...

8. HOW TO PRIORITIZE WORK?

9. HOW DO YOU PREPARE FOR A MEETING AND PREPARE A MEETING? WHAT DO YOU SEE HAPPENING DURING THE MEETING?

Just as communication is essential when working remotely, so is organization. Because you won't have those opportunities in the elevator or a casual conversation in the lunchroom, you should take advantage of the little time you have in a video or phone conference...

10. HOW DO YOU USE TECHNOLOGY ON A DAILY BASIS, IN YOUR WORK AND FOR YOUR PLEASURE?

This is a great question because it shows your comfort level with technology, which is very important for a remote worker because you will be working with technology over time...
