What Our Team Says (Employee Reviews)

"Picker Packer work at UPS is fast, satisfying, and genuinely skill-based. Hitting your accuracy target every shift is a real accomplishment and UPS recognizes it with performance bonuses that add up meaningfully over time. The Teamsters wage is better than any other picker packer job I researched in this area, and the union contract means I am not worried about being arbitrarily cut or replaced. I have been here three years and I am not going anywhere." - Current Picker Packer, Columbus, OH.

Role Overview & Responsibilities

As a UPS Fulfillment Center Picker Packer, you locate, retrieve, verify, and securely pack customer orders within our fulfillment center environment, operating at a sustained pick-and-pack rate that meets UPS's throughput targets while maintaining the parcel accuracy and packaging quality that defines the UPS delivery standard.

  • Order Picking: Use a handheld scanner to receive pick assignments and navigate the fulfillment floor, locating specific SKUs in assigned pick zones and retrieving the correct item, quantity, and variant against the digital pick ticket without substitution or error.
  • Secure Packaging Execution: Pack picked items into correctly sized cartons or poly mailers, applying appropriate protective dunnage for fragile items, sealing packages securely, and applying shipping labels with barcode-side visibility for downstream scan compliance.
  • Accuracy Verification: Perform a final item verification scan before sealing every package, confirming the picked item matches the order ticket exactly and flagging any discrepancy for supervisor resolution before the parcel enters the outbound sort flow.

Benefits & Perks

UPS Picker Packer associates earn Teamsters union base wages with accuracy and performance bonus opportunities on top, full medical, dental, and vision benefits, a pension contribution, paid personal time, and UPS Earn & Learn tuition assistance. Weekly direct-deposit paychecks and contractual annual wage raises make this one of the most financially reliable picker packer jobs available in any fulfillment market.
