Position Overview

We are seeking an experienced and highly analytical Clinical Product Research Analyst to support healthcare product research, clinical product evaluations, and functional equivalency assessments in a fully remote, six-month contract position.

In this role, you will leverage your hands-on clinical experience and knowledge of medical supplies, equipment, and patient care products to evaluate products across multiple manufacturers and determine whether they are clinically appropriate alternatives for specific healthcare applications. You will work alongside a team of analysts and healthcare supply chain professionals to review extensive product lists, compare technical specifications, validate clinical applications, and develop evidence-based recommendations that support product sourcing, standardization, and conversion initiatives.

This opportunity is ideal for an experienced clinical professional, such as an ICU Nurse, Emergency Department Nurse, Medical-Surgical Nurse, Respiratory Therapist, Clinical Product Specialist, or Value Analysis Professional, who wants to apply their clinical expertise in a research-focused capacity without providing direct patient care. The position offers 100% remote work, a flexible daytime schedule, and the opportunity to influence healthcare product selection and standardization decisions across a wide range of clinical environments.

Key Responsibilities

Clinical Product Research & Evaluation

  • Research and evaluate medical supplies, clinical equipment, and patient care products used across general medical, critical care, acute care, inpatient, and ambulatory healthcare settings.
  • Review extensive product lists developed by internal analysts to determine clinical suitability, appropriate applications, and potential product alternatives.
  • Conduct functional equivalency assessments to determine whether products from different manufacturers can appropriately serve the same clinical purpose.
  • Compare product specifications, intended use, performance characteristics, clinical applications, and manufacturer documentation.
  • Apply practical clinical knowledge to evaluate how products are used in real-world patient care environments.
  • Identify clinically meaningful differences between competing products, including potential impacts on patient safety, workflows, treatment effectiveness, and product usability.
  • Distinguish critical clinical differences from minor variations that do not materially affect product functionality.
  • Evaluate available technical documentation, clinical evidence, regulatory information, and manufacturer specifications to validate product recommendations.
  • Research and compare products from multiple manufacturers while maintaining objective, unbiased evaluations.
  • Identify potential limitations, contraindications, or clinical concerns associated with proposed product substitutions.
  • Develop evidence-based recommendations regarding product equivalency, clinical appropriateness, and potential replacement options.

Candidates are not expected to be experts in every product category, but should possess broad clinical product knowledge and the ability to research unfamiliar products effectively.

Data Analysis & Product Documentation

  • Analyze large product datasets containing hundreds to thousands of medical product records.
  • Use advanced Microsoft Excel functions to organize, compare, validate, and analyze product information.
  • Perform product matching and cross-referencing using XLOOKUP, VLOOKUP, Pivot Tables, sorting, filtering, and data validation tools.
  • Identify inconsistencies, missing information, duplicate records, and discrepancies within product databases.
  • Research incomplete or conflicting product information using multiple reliable sources.
  • Maintain accurate product cross-reference databases and structured research documentation.
  • Document product characteristics, clinical applications, functional similarities, and clinically relevant differences.
  • Support the development of an internal clinical product knowledge database designed to capture product equivalencies and research findings for future reference.
  • Ensure research findings are consistent, accurate, traceable, and supported by appropriate documentation.
  • Develop clear written summaries explaining product comparisons and the clinical rationale behind recommendations.

Supply Chain Collaboration & Research Support

  • Collaborate with healthcare supply chain professionals, clinical stakeholders, and internal research analysts to support product evaluation initiatives.
  • Assist with medical product standardization, sourcing, contract conversions, and product substitution projects.
  • Provide clinical insight regarding product utilization, operational considerations, and potential impacts of product changes.
  • Respond to questions regarding product research findings and explain the evidence supporting clinical recommendations.
  • Participate in occasional project meetings to discuss research progress, findings, and outstanding product questions.
  • Work independently to complete assigned research projects within established timelines.
