To support this priority, Amazon is seeking an experienced and innovative Senior Site Workplace Health and Safety (WHS) Manager to join our team. In this position, you will be responsible for partnering with the site level operations team for your designated site in order to execute company WHS policies and ensure compliance to all applicable local and regional regulations. By leveraging lean principles and Kaizen events, you will lead continuous improvement initiatives to reduce conditional and ergonomic risk in Amazon’s processes to ensure a safe and healthful working environment for our associates.<br><br>In this role, you must demonstrate the ability to build trust and confidence with the cross functional operations teams, and influence change through providing comprehensive risk assessments and safety data analysis. To do so, you must be an effective communicator and send clear, concise and consistent messages, both verbally and in writing. You will also be required to instruct and train operations leadership and site WHS professionals in company EHS policies while assisting the regional teams in incorporating our safety standards at their sites. Your experience working in safety programs and your relevant safety, environmental and ergonomic knowledge in an operations environment will be crucial. You will be responsible for developing a team of safety managers and safety professionals at your designated site. Your teams’ success will depend on your ability to create and execute leadership development plans for your larger team. You must demonstrate your ability to clearly communicate organizational direction through your team. As a senior leader in the WHS organization, you will also be responsible for judging and assessing safety talent to select appropriate bench strength for current and future business needs.<br><br><strong>Responsibilities Include But Are Not Limited To<br><br></strong><ul><li> Act as SME of local/regional regulations and company WHS policy.</li><li> Provide guidance and oversight to ensure compliance to all applicable Amazon Safety Policies.</li><li> Measure site performance against published requirements in safety policies. For all deficiencies, identify a plan for the site to implement and fix all identified deficiencies.</li><li> Ensure safety record keeping and data integrity and provides Operations with accurate reporting and metrics to support business safety initiatives.</li><li> Deliver on-time and quality projects to Operations.</li><li> Deep Dive safety metrics and review incident weekly and monthly incident trends to discover trends to justify the allocation of appropriate resources to areas where the safety risk is highest.</li><li> Deep Dive trends and propose action plans to Sr. Leadership on site.</li><li> Audit record keeping practices and Global Safety Database entries to ensure compliance to global safety standards and local regulations.</li><li> Audit the workplace organization and Associate behaviors to ensure that training, auditing and scoring methods are accurate and consistent.</li><li> Manage and mentor the Safety Managers and Safety Associates in your assigned site.</li><li> Engage the Injury Prevention Specialists (IPS) and Site Leadership to drive long-term strategic actions to achieve incident reduction.</li><li> Perform targeted Kaizen events in partnership with the Operations teams based on the risks identified in each task (force, repetition, and awkward postures).</li><li> Ensure site leadership and associates are trained and knowledgeable of their responsibilities under each policy.</li><li> Audit the quality, delivery (including qualifications of the trainer), and effectiveness of all required safety training.</li><li> Review for effectiveness the deployed safety tools and revise to ensure continual improvement.</li><li> Partner with corporate and other regional field safety personnel to leverage global safety and environmental best practices into NA network standards.<br><br></li></ul><strong>Additional Job Elements Include<br><br></strong><ul><li> Lift up to 49 pounds and frequently push, pull, squat, bend, and reach</li><li> Stand/walk for up to 12 hours during shifts</li><li> Work in an environment where the noise level varies</li><li> Work in an environment that is subject to variable temperatures and weather (delivery stations include outside loading departments)</li><li> Continuously climb and descend stairs (applies to sites with stairs)</li><li> Maintain effective care delivery in emergencies and assist emergency response at the site<br><br></li></ul>Those that do not have an adult First Aid, CPR, AED certification from the American Heart Association or American Red Cross must obtain within 3 weeks of start date.<br><br><strong>Basic Qualifications<br><br></strong><ul><li> Bachelor's degree</li><li> 7+ years of increasing responsibilities in safety and/or environmental programs in manufacturing, production, or service operations, or relevant experience applicable to the role</li><li> 7+ years of increasing responsibilities in people and performance management</li><li> Experience implementing lean principles and process improvement in an operational environment</li><li> Willingness to work a variety of shifts, including nights and weekends, as required to support direct reports and site needs<br><br></li></ul><strong>Preferred Qualifications<br><br></strong><ul><li> Master’s degree preferred</li><li> Certified Safety Professional preferred</li><li> Experience in a fast-paced, dynamic organization</li><li> Interest in long-term career development through assignments in multiple business units across the nation</li><li> Prior experience in a management development training program</li><li> Track record of effectively managing a safety operation comprising both salaried and hourly staff</li><li> Demonstrate experience in developing others into higher levels of responsibility in an organization</li><li> Strong written and verbal communication skills, including comfort interfacing with Directors and VPs</li><li> Strong analytical and problem-solving skills<br><br></li></ul>Amazon is an equal opportunity employer and does not discriminate on the basis of protected veteran status, disability, or other legally protected status.<br><br>Our inclusive culture empowers Amazonians to deliver the best results for our customers. Your Amazon package will include sign-on payments and restricted stock units (RSUs). Final compensation will be determined based on factors including experience, qualifications, and location.
